Sunday Morning Assembly Schedule

The Southeast elders are considering options for reorganizing our Sunday morning schedule. At present we have two worship services with Bible classes during each worship service and with a 30 minute fellowship period between the two services.

Some desired objectives include:

Some possibilities that have been mentioned include:

Some limiting factors include:

All members are invited to comment through this blog to express your thoughts on any and all of these issues. Your suggestions, questions, and concerns are welcome.

Even if you have commented to the elders or staff, by responding here all who care to can see your response.

We know that not everyone will be happy with whatever we do or don’t do, but we also believe that the more people who give us their honest counsel, the better the outcome will be.

An outside opinion here, but bible study sounds like a VERY good thing to focus on.

While the way we worship should not take over the reason we worship, I don't mind putting forth my opinion. This is the only congregation that I have attended where there are two worships and two bible classes. For my wife and I, the worship - bible study - worship format is truly helpful because we get to attend bible study with people we know and people we're trying to get to know. Also since bible study is a big part of learning to live in Christ, it's nice to have more people in class to get more feedback. Currently, in the classes my wife and I have attended, they are a bit small with limited discussions.

For my family, we would prefer the worship-class-worship outline.

We've gotten a bit discouraged about attending class due to the small number of people that actually show up. It could be that we have just been attending one of the lower populated classes?

It's always enjoyable to have classrooms filled with fellow christians so that way there's an even bigger realm of feedback that is generated during discussions.

I know it would also be easier to keep up with people we knew and easier to meet people we didn't know.

I miss our over-flowing, crowded classes full of friends engaging in enthusiastic, spirited Bible study like we did at the old building. Sunday School was as meaningful as the formal service --so we got to experience TWO great worship times together every Sunday! Let's go back to the old worship/class/worship way!!
